The week after the Tour De France presents a monstrous problem for the cycling community. After three weeks of inspiring, heartbreaking, and (this year) ridiculous racing, we must face the reality that the summer racing season is on the decline. Less World Tour events translates to less local racing as Autumn quickly approaches.
In attempt to weather the post-TDF hangover, we've partnered with our friends at Mosaic Cycles to keep the inspiration alive. A five day event, exploring some of our favorite lesser known dirt climbs in the Boulder Area. We call this event, Rowdy Climb Week.
Here is a teaser of what to expect from this year's edition.
Day One Features Climbs up Bow Mountain Road and Sunshine Canyon Road. This Route tops out at 6,500 ft before descending down Poormans Rd. to 4 Mile Canyon. Photo: Laura Siekman
Day Two again visits Sunshine Canyon, but continues along the dirt to the summit before making a turn around at Gold Hill. This 20 Mile route features 3,500 ft of climbing. Photo: Laura Siekman
Day Three features the scarred 4 mile mountain side, still recovering from the 4 year old fire. This route turns off 4 mile canyon, taking the Logan Mill climb to Sugarloaf Rd. Photo: Laura Siekman
Day Four again features Gold Hill, this time, approached by the climb up 4 mile canyon. Photo: Laura Siekman
The Burn Zone from the 4 Mile Canyon Fire crossed the roadway multiple times. The trees are an abrupt reminder of that powerful fire. Photo: Laura Siekman
Although the climbs are brutally tough, the views certainly are worth the effort. Photo: Laura Siekman
Start Time: 6:30 A.M. at Spruce Confections (Pearl St.)
